Consultant - Project & Portfolio Management (Chicago, IL)

This position is for Consultant with interest/experience in Process Improvement. The Consultant will work with diverse clients ranging from small and medium size enterprises to large Fortune 100 enterprises to deliver process improvement initiatives. Engagements are usually longer in duration and allows consultant to oversee the implementation of process improvement recommendations. Working in a team environment, the individual in this role will develop, analyze and optimize clients’ processes. The primary responsibilities of this role include coordinating process development activities within a client's organization; working with stakeholders to understand and map their business processes and define areas of improvement. You will be asked to provide value on process design and improvement initiatives, assisting our clients to identify business needs and focused solutions, and realize those solutions by implementing effective business processes.
Job Responsibilities:
In general, the Consultant will perform the following job responsibilities in addition to others as required for each project:

The Consultant is the primary resource to project teams in support of the project management improvement engagement. The Consultant will work with the project team and interface with the client to benchmark existing project management methodologies, design and recommend methodology improvements, and oversee recommendations’ implementations.

Create portfolios to identify new opportunities within an organization.

Select strategic portfolios based on organizational objectives and alignment.

Plan for optimal execution of the selected portfolios.

Manage and reevaluate the portfolio to ensure and control alignment.

Mentor and coach team members on the fundamentals of project management, portfolio management, portfolio optimization, and project management methodologies.

Develop new knowledge in project and portfolio management to support our client initiatives.
General Consultant Qualifications:
Qualified candidates for Consultant Level positions will have the following qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in technical field with two years of professional experience, or Graduate Degree, or equivalent in combination of education and/or experience

Strong skills in presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.

Demonstrated success in analysis driven problem solving.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.

Process Improvement Qualifications:
In addition to the general qualifications required for a Consultant level position, it is desirable, although not essential, that the Project and Portfolio Management Consultant have one or more of the following Subject Matter Area Qualifications:

Degree in technical field related to Project Management (e.g. Construction Management) is a plus

Formal project management related credential (e.g. PMP)

Thorough knowledge of Project Scheduling Applications (e.g. Primavera, MS Project) including implementation, configuration, and administration is a plus

EPM domain knowledge and an understanding of broader technology and software design methodologies is a plus.

End-to-end project management, portfolio management or enterprise project/application portfolio management solutions experience is also a plus
