Consultant - Businesss Continuity (Columbus, OH)

The Business Continuity Consultant will work with diverse clients ranging from small and medium size enterprises to large Fortune 100 enterprises. Engagements are usually longer in duration and allows the consultant to oversee the implementation of business continuity recommendations. Working in a team environment, the individual in this role will to help clients identify measures to improve business resiliency, arrange plans for recovery, and develop contingency plans in the event of unforeseen major incidents or disasters.  You will be asked to provide value on business continuity needs, assisting our clients to identify focused solutions, and realize those solutions by implementing effective business continuity processes.

Job Responsibilities:

 

IIn general, the Business Continuity consultant will perform the following job responsibilities in addition to others as required for each project:

 

  • Provide senior level subject matter expertise and leadership in business continuity.

  • Lead the implementation of a business impact analysis to determine importance or criticality of elements to the business.

  • Assist the client in prioritizing the planning, preparation, and business continuity management activities.

  • Develop business continuity standards, program development, and policies to ensure the client has the tools needed to continue business without stoppage.

  • Assist in program development activities and ensure regular cycle of risk-identification steps are implemented.

  • Assist in the development of policies to ensure activities are consistently performed.

  • Work with the client to develop a business continuity plan, including instructions and procedures to enable a business to respond to disasters and incidents.

  • Identify emergency/disaster preparedness education needed for client team to effectively implement the business continuity plan.

General Consultant Qualifications:

 

Qualified candidates for Business Continuity consultant positions will have the following general qualifications:

 

  • Cognizant of technology & systems but not necessarily in-depth expertise.

  • Demonstrated success in analysis driven problem solving.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to provide clear information for internal business partners.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams and influence without authority or title

  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive materials and information.

  • Ability to conduct large group meetings and presentations for internal and external clients at all levels, including executive and board level management.

  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple complex projects at the same time.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, hand-in-hand with client, and deliver solid results in a demanding work environment.

Subject Matter Expert Qualifications:

 

In addition to the general qualifications required for a Business Continuity position, it is desirable, although not essential, that the Business Continuity candidate have one or more of the following Subject Matter Expertise Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • 8+ years of related experience in Resiliency, Business Continuity or Emergency Management.

  • Coursework related to continuity and contingency planning.

  • Certificate in business continuity or emergency management.

  • Experience preferred in the following:

    • Risk evaluation and control

    • Business impact analysis

    • Business continuity strategies

    • Emergency response and operations

    • Business continuity plans

    • Awareness and training programs

    • Business continuity plan exercises

    • Audit and maintenance.

    • Crisis communications
