Consultant - Facilities Management (Ann Arbor, MI)

The Facilities Management Consultant will work with diverse clients ranging from small and medium size enterprises to large Fortune 100 enterprises. The primary responsibilities of this role include helping the facilities management group to validate, prioritize, and plan a portfolio of infrastructure and deferred maintenance projects. Engagements are usually longer in duration and allows the consultant to oversee the implementation of facility management recommendations. Working in a team environment, the individual in this role will develop, analyze and optimize clients’ facility management project scoping and selection process. You will be asked to provide value on facility management project prioritization, assisting our clients to identify facility needs and focused solutions, and realize those solutions by implementing effective processes.
Job Responsibilities:
In general, the Facilities Management will perform the following job responsibilities in addition to others as required for each project:

Validate list of deferred maintenance items from Facility Conditions Assessment, including validating cost estimates, reviewing scopes of work, and providing input on categorization of maintenance items.

Advise client on grouping of multiple deferred maintenance items into projects, include creating and/or validating cost, scope, and project duration estimates.

Revise project scope based on feedback from client and context of particular project impact and area of work.

Advise on the creation of programs of work for different deferred maintenance systems, such as HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.

Advise on the order/sequence of different programs and projects in a multi-year portfolio plan to create synergy, avoid unnecessary rework, and minimize occupant interruptions.

Visit project sites and system areas to investigate and validate deferred maintenance items.

Gather feedback from healthcare facilities managers, building managers, and engineers and incorporate into recommendations for particular client.

Participate in visioning sessions with team and client to develop a prioritization model and decision making tool for use in selecting deferred maintenance items.

Review proposal submissions for consultancy services and assist in award recommendation.

Assist in preparing presentations, studies, and reports for client for infrastructure and deferred maintenance plan.

Cognizant of technology & systems but not necessarily in-depth expertise.
Subject Matter Expert Qualifications:
In addition to the general qualifications required for a Facilities Management position, it is desirable, although not essential, that the Facilities Management Consultant have one or more of the following Subject Matter Expert Qualifications:

BS or BA in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.

8 or more years working in facilities with at least 4 years of healthcare experience.

Knowledge of Facility Conditions Assessments and deferred maintenance.

Professional Engineer or Architecture license is a plus.

Certification as a Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) preferred.

Master’s degree holders preferred.
